I loves food, and I have to thank two very important people that have nurtured my appreciation for food: Bonnie and Johnny (mom and dad).
My parents have been great at getting me to try different kinds of food starting at a very young age. They are also great cooks, with many culinary tricks up their sleeves. Bonnie is extremely skilled at traditional Chinese cuisine, and Johnny is a master at preparing seafood. I am very fortunate to have learned quite a few tricks from them.
I started learning how to cook in the second year of my undergrad, after getting bored of the cafeteria food at the University. During that time, I also started to explore the city of Guelph a lot, which got me to try out all kinds of cuisine I wasn’t accustomed to. I have created a couple more dishes since then, and explored many more restaurants, all of which I want to share with you through Umami.
I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy reading this blog, and I encourage you to try out the restaurants and the recipes. If you have suggestions about restaurants I should try, or have a recipe you want me to try out, please send me an email, and I’ll try my best to accommodate!
Bon Appetit,

Hey Ken!
I have a restaurant you should try, it’s in Toronto. It’s called Mount Everest and it’s on Bloor Street… it is amazing! Most people go for the Indian food but the owners and most of the cooks and servers are from Nepal and the food is great!
Highly recommend it…
